Plant a Tree for Every Book

Over 30 million virgin trees are cut down to publish books for the United States alone.  Claire and I work hard to reduce our carbon footprint, although Claire is better at making everyone take shorter showers in her house.  I’ve reduced our carbon footprint by purchasing trees to be planted in our local burn areas, and there are several to choose from.  Today, I just balanced out this year’s reading by purchasing a tree for every book I’ve read with Eco-Libris.  Eco-Libris describes itself as “a green business that enables people to do something reasonable, affordable yet with an impact: plant one tree for every book they read. We believe that taking responsibility for the environmental costs of the books we read is only natural.” Read the rest of this entry »
