we've got some real Northanger fans. I guess I should retract that. But I still think it's (relatively) a disappointment. We do have seasons in LA, believe it or not. They're subtle, but they're there. We always have a lot of sun though. A recommended junky reading list is a great idea. I think Kim or I--or both of us--should whip one up.

4. I went through the same thing just a few weeks ago. I finally got around to reading Valerie Martin's 'Trespass' and was so disappointed. It was quality writing, obviously well thought out, the themes were rather beautifully interwoven but it was still lacking. I just couldn't get attached to any of the characters and there was too much going on. Of course maybe we're expecting too much thinking that a good writer should be able to hit the mark every time. Although may I say that I loved Northanger Abbey.

I thought it was always spring in LA? Spring stopped in here for a visit last week and then left and slammed the door in my face yesterday. Do you have a recommended junky reading list?

But how many times have you seen a picture of or run across an old house (English or not) and thought Northanger Abbey? Or how many times have our daughters gotten all worked up about something (bug, bump in the night) and you've thought Northanger Abbey? Her weakest book, but still a reference point for life hundreds of years later. I'll take Austen's weakest over many other's best book.
