There is no disputing that New York City is the publishing capital in the nation, and maybe after following this walking tour, an argument can be made that it is a top bookstore haunt as well. The first time I went to NYC as an adult, I had a vision that I would be tripping over bookstores right and left. Not so. They’re there, you just need a map. The Millions, one of my favorite literary blogs, has solved the problem. Each year they sponsor a walking tour of independent bookstores in New York City. For those of us who couldn’t join them on May 2nd, they provided a map and directions. Look at the comments section of the post because people recommended other bookstores to visit. An earlier post gives a little background on some of the stores.
Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy the walk!
